Establishment of the Centre
During the period of existence of the Skolkovo Foundation - since May 2010 - our experts have performed large-scale work on reviewing applications of candidates and subsequently selected:
- a consultant for preparation of a brief for the development of the town planning concept (the winner of the selection process was the Swiss company - Maxmakers Ltd);
- a contracting company for carrying out the engineering investigations (the winner of the selection - SUE Mosgorgeotrest);
- a designer for the development of the town planning concept on the territory of the Innovation Centre (the winner of the closed tender was the French company - AREP).
Currently, there are engineering works being carried out on the territory of Skolkovo, together with the laying of utilities.

Project Participants
By December 2011, 300 companies had become participants of Skolkovo project. Out of these 300, 90 companies have joined Biomedicine Cluster, 80 — the Energy Cluster, and 100 companies became part of the IT Cluster. An active application selection process is being carried out for the Space Technologies and Communications Cluster and the Nuclear Technologies Cluster. Each week Skolkovo Foundation receives over 30 new applications.
As of 30 September 2011, Skolkovo Foundation has approved the issue of grant financing for 39 companies for a total amount of 4674 million RUR. The amount of grant financing varies from 1.5 million RUR to 300 million RUR, as outlined by Skolkovo Foundation Grant Policy.

Development of the Business Environment
During the period of Skolkovo operations, the administration of the Project has held a number of meetings in Russia, the USA, and the EU countries. As a result, 25 agreements on business cooperation have been signed.
The largest companies of the world have become business partners of the Skolkovo Foundation: Boeing, Lukoil, TATA, Astra Zeneca, Alstom, Cisco, EADS, Intel, Microsoft, Nokia, Nokia Siemens Networks, Siemens, Ericsson, IBM, Dow Chemical, Johnson&Johnson и GE.
Our partners have highly evaluated the Project’s prospects and now intend to provide it with financial and consulting support. Furthermore, agreements have been reached with many companies for the start-up of research centers on the territory of Skolkovo. The executives of some partner companies have been accepted onto the Foundation Council.

Scientific Work and Education
In addition, major efforts have been made in the scientific sphere. In September 2010, the Skolkovo Foundation arranged cooperation with the 15 largest higher educational establishments of Russia, among which are the M.V. Lomonosov MSU, the Higher School of Economics, MPTI, N.E. Bauman MSTU, the Saint Petersburg and Novosibirsk State Universities, plus many others.
Skolkovo Open University started its work on April 21, 2011. The University holds open lectures on a regular basis and free of charge. The representatives of partner companies, professors of business schools, as well as engaged experts have already given five thematic courses of lectures.
An important milestone was the Skolkovo Foundation’s entering into an agreement with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the alumni of which can boast one of the best educations in their sphere in the world. The agreement stipulates a joint establishment of the Skolkovo Science and Technology Institute.
